Morning Glory

urinals

I know darkness more than I know you

Your hands mean nothing even when it’s on the arch of my back

Lighting a candle, I know there is nothing left here

No way back

Give

Me

Space

To

Breathe

I know darkness in its finite capacities,

I remember sunsets

From here, I only see the moon

With no stars

The

Light

Is

Too

Bright

I know darkness when scars are healed,

The insides pulse of battles gone dead

Sometimes we cut through skin after skin anyway

Searching for what we’ve lost

How

Many

Times

I’ve

Died!

I know darkness when I sit in a café drinking my tea

And all I hear is myself breathing

Quiet mutters to shun away an oversold dream

I call a cab,

Bring

Me

Home,

Please?

I practice my lines in front of the bathroom mirror

Steamed words in this makeshift urinal

Let

The

Beast

Rest
